Bertelsen olavb@daimi.au.dk Subject: [NN5D] CFP: Workshop on Activity Theory in HCI Design (INTEARCT 2003 - Zurich, Schweiz) dear friends, you receive this mail because you were you were on the mailinslist for the second nordic-baltic activity theory meeting two years ago. if you are not interested in the workshop below or receive multiple copies of the announcemnt please accept my appologies. if you are interested: i hope you will consider participating. please also circulate the call. kind regards /olav ===================================================================== Call for Position Papers (deadline 1st August 2003): METHODS FOR APPLYING ACTIVITY THEORY TO HCI-DESIGN Zürich, Switzerland, September 1, 2003 Workshop Web site: http://www.daimi.au.dk/~olavb/athci2003/ One day workshop at INTERACT 2003: Ninth IFIP TC13 International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction http://www.interact2003.org/ Activity Theory (AT) has been a recognised framework for enhancing design practices in HCI and related disciplines for a couple of decades. In most cases, AT has been deployed as an analytical framework for conceptualising user and contextual perspectives during systems design. However, the popularity of this framework has not yet resulted in many operational methods and techniques that can easily and readily be applied in HCI design. The purpose of this workshop is to examine current methods and techniques based on AT so as to establish the feasibility of using this framework in HCI for practical design purposes. We invite position papers on the workshop theme, outlining experiences and novel ideas for applying AT in HCI design. Position papers should be no longer than 2 pages (approximately 1000 words) presented in the conference format and emailed in PDF to Daisy Mwanza (D.Mwanza@open.ac.uk) by 1st August 2003.
